Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our friends and family!

We were abundantly blessed by our God with another year of exciting experiences. Perhaps you will enjoy reading about a few of this year’s events.

In May we visited Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, Athens, Corinth, Crete, Patmos, and Ephesus on a tour, “In the Footsteps of Paul,” with a Bible and archeology professor from Harding University. In mid-summer we sailed on a cruise ship with Keith Lancaster’s Acappella group to Alaska, where we saw bears, whales, and glaciers with Jeannie’s brother, our sister-in-law, and many old and new friends. We recently spent a few days in Philadelphia while Michael attended the national Family Physicians convention, then 4 nights in New York Times Square where we enjoyed three Broadway plays and lots of Italian restaurants.

Michael returned to work full time in January. He completed 12 weeks of cardiac rehab in February. A recent echocardiogram confirmed his new mitral valve is functioning at maximum efficiency. New patient charting software at the clinic has kept Michael occupied, often till midnight, with data transfer since early September.

Jeannie spent a few days in Washington, D.C., in January, encouraging the Arkansas congressmen and senators to give more attention to public education. She has decided not to run for re-election when her 8th term on the Fort Smith School Board ends in March. Jeannie continues to share teaching responsibilities for the ladies’ class at church. She remains the president of the League of River Valley Voters. This year marks the 16th Acappella Praise and Harmony CD that she has helped record.

We are enjoying watching our grandchildren grow and their parents succeed. It’s hard to believe we have a 15-year-old grandson and that he is taller than us. Both he and his 12-year-old sister are percussionists in their school bands. Our 8-year-old granddaughter continues to amaze us with her karate advancement and her horseback riding skills. Her delightful 3-year-old sister charms us with every encounter.

May your Christmas be filled with joy
and your New Year be full of wonder and adventure.
