Views inconsistent

It seems inconsistent for an abortion supporter to be alarmed about newborns being abandoned or even murdered by their mothers.
The present acceptance of abortion by much of society has created an attitude of complacency among many about human life. Whether a life is destroyed before birth or shortly after birth, the same outcome is provided: a mother is spared the inconvenience and responsibility of child-rearing.
It is inconceivable that we allow, sometimes even encourage, a woman to destroy her child before it is born, yet if she attempts to do the same following birth, she is severely punished.
Though our country's laws do not agree, it would appear far better to abandon a newborn than to kill a fetus. The abandoned child at least has a chance of being found and raised with love by adoptive parents who believe that human life is sacred.
