DIAPER RASH

Is the rash getting lots worse?
Has there been diarrhea for more than 48 hours?

ACTIVITIES:  Change the diapers more often to keep the area especially clean. If possible, leave the diaper area open to air occasionally. For now, don't use plastic pants. Avoid disposable diapers if possible.

MEDICATIONS:  Minor diaper rashes can be treated with Vasoline or A&D Ointment. More severe diaper rashes need to be examined by your health care provider so proper treatment can be given.

DIET:  Usually no changes in the diet are needed. If you think a certain food is causing irritation, then it should be avoided till the rash is gone.

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

1. There is no improvement in 3 days.
2. You notice bleeding.
3. Your baby is in too much pain.

If there is also DIARRHEA, then see elsewhere.
